In an often all too intolerant world, I urge those who are considering a commitment ceremony to embrace this experience and to treat this experience “as if.” In other words, let’s behave as if the rest of the world had caught up with our thinking already, especially since we know it is only a matter of time.

One of my sweetest memories as a Celebrant is when I worked with a couple to create and officiate at their very elegant and deeply meaningful commitment ceremony. This couple went “all out” and gave themselves the most beautiful event they possibly could - with a wedding party of ten, both brides in beautiful white gowns, both families present.They were so fortunate to have so much support,

but they also truly supported themselves and their decision and their love for each other.

There is nothing more beautiful than love and nothing the world needs more. All couples deserve to be in loving partnerships with dignity and respect. Love is beyond politics.
